Lilian T. Thome, M.D.

Dr. Thome was appointed Director of the Columbus VAOPC on March 6, 1994, and had been Acting Director since September 1993. She has served in the dual role of Chief of Staff since July 1990 until March 20, 2005.
Dr. Thome began her VA career in 1983 as a staff physician at the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio, and later became Chief of the Dialysis Unit at Chillicothe. In September 1986, she was appointed Chief of Medical Service at the VAOPC Columbus. Dr. Thome graduated from the University of the Philippines with a BS degree in pre-medical science in 1968, and the University of the East Memorial Medical Center with an MD degree in 1973. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the VAMC Bronx, NY, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York, and Nephrology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Thome is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine at The Ohio State University.
Miguel Harding LaPuz, M.D., M.B.A.

Dr. LaPuz was appointed Chief of Staff at the Columbus VAOPC on March 20, 2005.
Dr. LaPuz began his VA career in 1995 as a Staff Physician at the VA Medical Center Huntington, West Virginia. He subsequently transferred to the VA Medical Center Dayton and served as Staff Physician until his appointment as Chief, Medical Service in October 2000.
Dr. LaPuz graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1982 with an MD degree. He completed residency and fellowship positions at Long Island College Hospital and the Brooklyn Hospital Center, both in Brooklyn, New York, and at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky. He completed his M.B.A. at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio in 2000.
Dr. LaPuz is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
John T. Glacken

John Glacken was selected as Associate Director of the Columbus VAOPC during July 1999. Mr. Glacken began his VA Career in 1980 as a Social Worker at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. He then served as a Social Worker at the Columbus VAOPC from 1980 to 1986 and as the Coordinator of the MHC from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Glacken relocated to the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI where he served as Coordinator of the Outpatient Psychiatry Section from 1989 to 1993. He also served as the Assistant Chief, Social Work Service at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System from 1993 to 1996 and as the Vice-President, Community Base Care Service Line from 1996 to 1999. Mr. Glacken graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Sociology and Social Welfare in 1978, and Marywood University with a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1979.

Barbara Sater was appointed Nurse Executive of the Columbus VAOPC March 9, 2003. From February 2001 to March 2003, Ms Sater was Nurse Coordinator, Nursing Service. Ms Sater began her VA career in 1980 where she served as Clinical Nurse Specialist, Diabetes, at the San Francisco VAMC for twenty-one years before transferring to the Columbus VAOPC in 2001.
Ms Sater graduated from The Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Cincinnati with a diploma in nursing in 1968, from Miami University of Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1970, and from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Science in nursing degree in 1979.
