Volunteer Services

Community resources help extend services and program potential. Unlike other facility services, Voluntary Services relies almost entirely on donated support to carry out its purpose: “to provide supplemental assistance to the VA and its patients.”

If you would like to support this program, all monetary & material donations should be submitted through the Voluntary Services Coordinator. Please contact us with questions. We will be happy to receive your volunteer application or discuss how you can help us in our mission to provide comfort and care to America's Veterans.

General Volunteers

Last year, the volunteers of the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (VA ACC) in Columbus, Ohio donated more than 58,000 hours of their time to our nations Veterans. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at our facility. Our volunteers provide support in all areas to include the following, to name just a few:
  • Canteen Services
  • Human Resources
  • Specialty Clinics
  • Mail Services
  • Patient escort services
  • Primary Care
  • Transportation Services .

You can be a part of our volunteer family. Join Us Today!

Student Volunteers

Our Student Volunteers are an invaluable asset to our facility. Student volunteers gain valuable work experience and can even use their volunteer hours to gain community service credit towards graduation. After only 100 hours of volunteering, eligible students can also compete for the James H. Parke Youth Scholarship award. Sign up now.

Volunteer Transportation

Some of the Veterans we serve are unable to obtain transportation to their medical appointments for a variety of different reasons. Our Volunteer Transportation Network provides a much needed service to Veterans who otherwise would not be able to make it to their appointments. Serving as a Volunteer Driver helps to ensure our Veterans have every opportunity to see their healthcare provider. Yes, I'd Like to Drive!
